April 4, 2024.

That is the date for when I last published an article on my blog. You might ask yourself, ‘Prince, all that long, what have you been doing? You probably won the lottery or something.’ Folks, I’m sorry to say, but no. I didn’t win the lottery. I didn’t discover the 8th wonder of the world (in my opinion, these are the two justifiable instances that can really cause a true writer to quit). So now, why did I stop? Good question, that I am yet to answer.

I am going to be honest with you. The only thing that stopped me from posting is myself. I’m not going to sit here and say that I got occupied by work, or school. All this ties up with the lesson I have for you guys today. Passion. Having passion for what you do, and love. For those of you who have already figured out what they have a passion for in this life, and are pursuing it, way to go. Good for you. But for the rest of us, there’s still a long journey ahead for us. What is it that you like doing? Whether it brings you money, or not? I’ll go first. Writing. If you are to give me a pen, and paper (or keyboard, in this case) I can come up with anything, or build up on whichever small thing you have given me. The words just come easily. But like anything else, if I have no passion for it, what’s the use? It’ll fade away. Safe to say that it hasn’t though, in my case.

The mystery of being gone for 2+ years is simply because I was doing it, but had no passion for it. Anything in this life that you do without passion, yields nothing. Am I asking you to go all in and put 100% where you working at the moment, because you read my article that says have passion for anything that you do? I don’t know, do you love it? If you’re fulfilled, then do so. But if you are doing it because it satisfies your immediate wants, then probably think twice. Should you be pressured that you’re clocking 25 and you still don’t know what you love doing? Colonel Sanders started KFC at 65 years of age. What was his passion in life? He loved to cook. Before that, he was a streetcar conductor, a railroad fireman, an insurance and tire salesman, to say the least.

We live in the 21st Century though, folks. The exposure we have at hand, is not the same as years ago. We can’t always use such examples as justification that there’s still time. Don’t beat yourself up, though. You read my article and say that I don’t want what’s best for you. I’m speaking to myself as well. Here I am, figured out what I do best, but have no passion for it. It’s a lesson to myself, and to you as well. Times have changed, situations have changed, we have to change with it. Not change for the worst, but for the best. Let it just not be words though.

My takeaways for you today are three, as I wind up. One, find out what you love. If you do it full-time, well and good. If you can do it alongside what you do at the moment, even better. Secondly, have a passion for it. I can’t argue this enough. Because without this, not even the army can push you to do it. Moving on, don’t look at it as something to bring you instant reward (this is another vice that has taken over what we do, but is a topic for another day). If you do something seeing it as an instant gratification factor, then you truly love it. Lastly, does this mean that I am back? Oh, you bet. I am more than back, and time (plus you guys) will be judge of that

Thanks for tuning in, and expect to hear from me again next week.
