It is sad to say that in today's world, men are not what they always used to be. There is a statement that goes, 'Hard times create strong men; those strong men create soft times. Soft times then create weak men who bring back hard times,' and the cycle continues. The soft times created by the strong men have now borne weak men or worse. What do I mean when I say this? Men nowadays have no purpose, and for a man, that is the first sign that you are already doomed.
I am not generalizing and saying it is the case for every young man out there. I have met and talked to some promising and outstanding young men who give me hope for the future (kudos to them). If that were the case for 95% of the male population, I wouldn't be here today writing this article. What is the first sign that shows a man is doomed? The fact that he is comfortable. And you might read this and feel safe, but let us reflect for a moment.
Everyone dreams of a good life. You dream of finding the perfect wife, having a successful business, or even that high-paying job. But when you think of all this, I am sure you comfort yourself that there is still time. You may feel that you will start working on your dream after completing college, or if you want to have your own business, get employed, and save up so that you will get capital to fulfill that dream. That is the comfort that is spoiling us I am talking about. The fact that you are waiting on that. It will never come. When it does, you will want to extend it more because it has now become a habit.
To begin with, know who you are. Do not see yourself in the image of anybody else; let it not be in the image of your father, mother, sister, or cousin. Whether they love you or not, it will be all about you at the end of the day. Funny enough, everyone will want to associate with you when you make it. Everybody wants to associate themselves with success. No one associates themselves with failure.
What is my message to my fellow young men out there? Know you are the pillars of this society. You are what society looks up to. In fact, do not do it for society. Do it for yourself. You wouldn't want to do anything terrible to yourself, right? If that is the case after you have built yourself, you will do the same for those around you, and together, we will create a society of strong men. Then when the soft times come along, time will tell whether they will create strong or weak men.
